One LovE: Season 2 - A Mindanao Wide Dance Battle

Dancing is of different style and genre, but of all it's diversity we LOVE only one same thing, DANCING. - Biboy

One Love dance battle is a result of a passionate heart, the kind of heart that is of a Sunny Boy Linan aka as Biboy, the founder together with Mr. Rodel Redondo with his dance crew, ICI Groovers aka Crimed Bacs. After the success of One Love's 1st season last year 2013, the group is motivated to do more the following year, 2014. Which then led to the event Last February 2, 2014 at Tagoloan Dome.

Getting to Know the Founder, Biboy.

A 22-year old Father of a very charming 1-year old cutie patootie. He started his humble beginning as an amateur dancer under Young Bloodz on his 1st year in high school, dancing on school activities and few dance contest. Biboy then became a member of Extreme Exposure, with the help of his mature and skilled groupmates, this is when he get the hang dancing. He is then motivated to do more in dancing because of the consistent winning of the group even on prestige dance competitions, bagging awards  during the peak of techno dancing.

In his college, He was able to found a dance group in Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST), STREET ALIENS which also made a name in Hip Hop dancing. During his stay in Insitute College of Iligan (ICI) he founded a dance group named ICI Groovers aka Crimed Bacs. A group that was able to have a name in dancing after a series of winning champions in Hip Hop competitions all over Mindanao from 2010-present.

As one of the event’s staff, I personally do appreciate young people like Biboy and his crew who really choose to exert effort to create such event. The event is not a piece of cake. The preparations, the drawbacks, the misunderstandings and the delays is a stroll in a park, Jurassic Park. But the group endured and was able to render a good show.

IN WHICH WE ESPECIALLY THANK (Even though a “THANK YOU” is not enough for their big-time support) THE PEOPLE BEHIND ONE LOVE:

The office of The Provincial Tourism Office headed by Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano who never fails to amaze us with his coolness and enthusiasm over our proposal. Mayor Paulino Yap Emano who really made the best way for us to be catered by the Provincial Tourism Office. The Dancers from all-over Mindanao, the people of Tagoloan and the audiences. THE VENT WOULD NOT BE THAT GRAND WITHOUT YOUR WILLINGNESS TO HELP. THANK YOU!

Here is the list of Groups that was able to make it to TOP 10.

1. BLACKSHEEP - (ILIGAN CITY)

2. MIXSTYLERS - (MARAMAG)
3. 3D MOVERZ - (LANAO DEL NORTE)
4. AMBOYZ CREW - (CDO)

7.YOUNG REFLEX - (MALAYBALAY CITY)
8.TRICI - (TAGOLOAN)
9. LEGACY - (VALENCIA CITY)
10. DISC PLAY CREW (VILLA MIS. OR.)

One of the things that make this competition very interesting and slap-up is the very generous kind of awarding, AND you might want to check out the hugeness of their Cheque.

Top 1: P 15,000.00
Top 2: 6,000.00
Top 3: 3,000.00

My personal favorite: TRICI of Tagoloan. Shouted over it. They nailed the gimmicks and the dramas.

and so I'm 22! I am really overwhelmed with everything God has done in my life. God has let me celebrate it the way my heart desires it. I may not be able to have the grandest cake, but I have balloons! Flowers! Chocolate Fondue! FAMILY, FRIENDS and Of course, the love of my life who have proved to me that His love is perfect and He is better than anything else in this world, GOD <3

Take delight in the Lord,

I always have been in love with celebrations and anything that describes it; balloons, flowers, confetti. I gasp over surprises, I mean I cry over them. In fact, I am the only person in our family who really throws up a party every natal day. But this was the first time I was SURPRISED on my birthday. I never thought there are people who really put up some effort in doing so, FOR ME. I have never been HAPPIER. Lahi ragyud kong duol ka sa Ginoo. Iba talaga pag malakas ka sa Panginoon. If you really delight yourself in to the LORD, HE REALLY REALLY, YOU HAVE TO TRUST ME THAT HE WILL GIVE YOU MORE THAN WHAT YOU EXPECT AND YOU DESIRE.

BALLOONS, FLOWERS and a CAKE. What else could I ask for?

The Purple Biko Experience (Sticky Rice Cake with Caramelized Coconut Milk Topping)

I'm sorry for the low quality picture.

I first bumped in to this newfangled recipe from my friend's graduation party, her boyfriend made it for her. The boyfriend is also a classmate and basically a friend. So I can also say that I first bumped in to this recipe from a friend who made his girlfriend a purple biko on her graduation. Hahaha.

Biko has always been my favorite kakanin, along with suman, bingka, nilusak, and the like. During my grade school, biko has always been my favorite breakfast, since we live in the market side, we can easily bought a ready made biko for 5 pesos. Until now, everytime I passed by on a biko in the market, I have to give in 5 pesos. Some biko vendors over Cogon market do sell very delicious biko, but nothing compares to the biko that Puerto market has.

Just last Nov.1 my friend and I decided to make the purple biko that we longed to make. Even if it means going to the city and look for an ube extract needed for the recipe. The making of it was very challenging because it really do requires a lot of time, but the satisfaction was all worth it. Very delicious and according to my friend's cousin, Diane, it is "REJUVENATING".

So if you want to be rejuvenated and to try something that is out from the usual, I am sharing you the purple biko recipe. Here it is!

The Purple Biko (Ingredients)

1kg. Glutinous Rice
300 ml condensed milk
1 Liter Coconut Milk
Ube extract (to taste, it depends on how you like it to be ubeir)
Purple food coloring (this is optional, you can make use of it if you want it to be more palatable or darker)
Sugar (optional if you'll use condense)
1pc. Ube fruit (this is for garnishing, you can top your biko with a grated ube)

The Procedure that I copied from here: http://panlasangpinoy.com

1. Combine the sticky rice and water in a rice cooker and cook until the rice is ready (we intentionally combined lesser amount of water than the usual so that the rice will not be fully cooked)
2. While the rice is cooking, combine the coconut milk with brown sugar and salt in a separate pot and cook in low heat until the texture becomes thick. Stir constantly.
3. Once the rice is cooked and the coconut milk-sugar mixture is thick enough, add the cooked rice in the coconut milk and sugar mixture then mix well. Continue cooking until all the liquid evaporates (but do not overcook).
4. Scoop the cooked biko and place it in a serving plate then flatten the surface.
5. Share and Enjoy!

By the way, the english term for biko is Sticky Rice Cake with Caramelized Coconut Milk Topping. Quite long right?

CAMIGUIN for 100php only!

ITS A RABIES FREE ISLAND!

Uhmm. I think I don't have to state that this post is late again. HAHAHA. But anwyays..

I am sharing a travel adventure today. A very unplanned travel that happened a long time ago, actually not so long time ago, just last august, 24-27. Hehe!

No permission from parents, no money, no class, unplanned; that makes the Camiguin get-away, special. It was actually an invitation from a friend who is assigned there for work, an invitation for his girlfriend's birthday, who is my friend also. Both of them are my friends. Yah. Both of them. Just to make this long, both of them are my real good friends.
HAHAHA.

It was perfect for a short vacation because it was right after the examination week and a long weekend because of the city fiesta. The island was my longtime dream place , but because of monetary barriers, it took me long to realize the dream.

Camiguin is a perfect place to chill and to just simply forget about the world. The unpolluted fresh air, the peaceful environment and the old houses that reminds you of some sort of history.

During my stay there, my loud voice was turned off, it is a very silent place, I can't afford to be loud. I hid some of being a city girl, since it is an island, I have to be sensitive. But you can be whatever you want there, I just choose to respect the Island. (Char!) Every night we went out for a walk, stop-over on a 24hour store near the market to buy something for midnight snack. No worries for mad bum, the bad guys there knows how to respect visitors. We usually end our day with a movie over star movies.

We went to katibawasan falls, the cold water, the amazing formation make me thank God for it. The Sto. Nino spring was the best, perfect for warm blooded people. Then a short stop-over at the old church ruins in Catarman. I am not really impressed with the sunkin cemetary, it scares me. The nicest experience for me was the infamous ardent hot spring, It is like wanting to be in the spring forever. I don't want to set down from it. Its eating every little bit of stress, and sickness in my body. I have never been so relax. This is along of the many reasons why I have to go back in Camiguin. I haven't experienced their Islands yet. That is next in the list.

 at the Camiguin Parola.

I really want to go back there, not because Camiguin means "come again" but there are still hundreds of reasons to be there. The lanzones, the islands, the people. I haven't tried there beaches yet. and next time, when I'll be in camiguin, I'll have my pocket full of cash. Not because camiguin is expensive but there are a lot of things that I want to buy there that is perfect for pasalubong. I experienced having only 100 in my pocket, I just want to experience it the other way around. So I won't have mad friends waiting again.

I'LL SEE YOU AGAIN CAMIGUIN : )

and anyway, when you go to Camiguin, don't forget to bring your crazy friends!

SIR PIT.

Date Written: March 20, 2012
Date Posted: April 2, 2012 BWAHAHA. LATE!

That's Sir Pit and and my timang face, It takes a brave soul for me to asked him for that. HAHAHAHAHA.

Okay..

This semester has been the longest and the best for me, so far. In terms of learning, BIGTIME. In experience, COCK-A-HOP; money, leadership, maturity and professionalism, and how to get what you get in ten years in two days. HECK.  But meeting this spine-chilling teacher makes the highlight. First impression: He looks like my father, only that they don't have the same fashion sense. This is the first time I was under him.

First day of school when I told my classmates that he will be my teacher for English and Philo, their reactions are like telling me that its the end of the world and I should drop the subject and kill myself. Of course I don't believe  them. I just pretended I was scared to satisfy them, I told them I'm gonna hang myself. Joke. Hehee. I was not even threatened. But here comes the antagonist-like classmate who suddenly popped in the conversation and "Dili gyud ka pwede ma late saiya ana, maulawan gyud ka, mang drop pa gyud nah siya kong mag sige kag absent". Scared. I was Scared, really. I am not good in punctuality and I have never been awarded as the perfect-in-attendance-pupil in grade school. I Panic. Seriously. I rushed myself to the registrar to change my destiny. Pero mapaglaro ang tadhana. I found out that he was the only teacher for English 5 and the only available teacher for my Philo. I was left with the options; to deal with the teacher or to graduate on 2014.
Of course I choose to deal.

The semester started and I consider my Tuesdays and Fridays hell days. I see him in the morning for philo and afternoon for english. Every time I came in his class, I try to switch myself into something I am not; demure, silent and behave. Hehehe. I used to slapped my face when I get sleepy in his class, I can't afford to let him know that I am bored. He's so rigid; show your phone: he'll look at you like he's gonna throw you in the window. Check your face in the mirror: he's gonna tell you "this is not a parlor!" and looks at you for 2minutes like he's gonna eat your head. Laugh and chit-chat in his class, he's gonna sermon you for 30minutes, calls you a cheerleader and let you talk to the DSA or the guidance counselor. He announces students who are already dropped in his class, he is a good attendance checker. He is the only teacher I knew that encourages student to absent and not to attend his class. His eyes, when angry, are like the sunlight, you can't bare to look at it. His exams are the hardest. One time, he called my attention because of my absences, he called me "Inday" I was lucky, 5 absences, I'm still not dropped.

1 month before the semester ends, I realize that he's not that bad. no-joke. Let's just say, I know how to look at the brighter side of it. God knows how much I dang waking up in the morning. I am not a good early-riser, and lets just say that the monsterous teacher taught me how to wake up early? Hehehehe. Which is I consider an improvement. I realize that a single absent can kill you in the finals. It felt good when you know you are responsible. I learned how to deal with deadlines. and it really takes to deal a monster-like teacher to realize that, huh?

It is not actually Sir Pit that really scares me, It is the responsibility that I have to go through because he is what my classmates describes him to be; evil, strict, inconsiderate and tough. After all, he is a good teacher, like my father, he is a good disciplinarian. What makes him bad is our attitudes towards schooling; We love teachers who give us easy life, we cherish teachers who don't bother to count our absences, we appreciate teachers who never gives us pressure to study exams because we are confident that we can just simply tap our classmates for answers and we don't call it cheating, teamwork and sharing blessings is our term, and that "YES!" (plus the happiest faces) when a teacher is absent.

Yes. We are a bunch of ABNORMALS, EVILS AND THIEVES. Its us, not Sir Pit or those terror teachers that we hate. Char!

I salute Sir Noel Pit for being such a BEAUTIFUL MONSTER : )
and I hope you won't be able to read this.

This one is for my strongest sister -- Jang.

The late post.

So meet my friend Jang-Jang, I have known her for almost 6 years already. I get to know her better on our 4th year in high school. Smart, Beautiful, Loud, Firm , four simplest words that I could describe her. I choose the simplest because It would for sure take the whole blog to describe her, really, time-consuming. But one thing is for sure, she's one of a kind.

and she is in the hospital now, already two weeks, fighting for his will to walk again. He was involve in a vehicular accident causing the lower part bone of her left leg to broke. She was just in bed after the accident, enduring the anguish of the broken bone. She can't stand, she cant even bare to sit. Everyday is a fight for fear and pain, I can't even imagine how or why does she cried so hard every time the nurse inject something on her dextrose (not directly to his arm), and then later it was explained, it was a medicine injected to the dextrose so it would penetrate directly to her vein, nerve that is very painful, stinging, that for me, something that is unbearable. Every time I came to visit her, I don't want to go near her, of course I am an emotional brat, I can feel her, seriously. I feel like I am in pain also when I saw her crying like she had no choice but to stick out on whatever pain she had to bear : ( She even celebrated her birthday at the hospital. She celebrated her birthday with the antenna-like fixer (made of metal, steel, im not sure) that is place on her leg after the operation, She celebrated her birthday with hours of crying and unimaginable pain that cause by the cold weather, causing the fixer to conduct the coldness and that numbs her leg completely. She blew her birthday candles with tears. I was there, I heard her calling her mom for help, I saw her make a face of agony, I saw her faded smiles as she endures pain, I may have never wipe a tear for her but it really do breaks my heart. One thing is certain, she is stronger than she thinks.

Ging,
Don't worry about everything because as what I've said, you are in a perfect situation for a perfect reason. There is no such thing as giving up now, you have a family who unconditionally loving you, you have a mother who you never heard a single blame, a mother who never complain of whatever sacrifices she have to do just to make you comfortable. You have a father who wants to bear the pain for you. Your mother even told me "Palangga gyud kaayo si Jang2 saiyang papa". You have friends who tried so hard to make you forget the pain once in a while, friends who spare time to visit you in spite of the schedule, friends who are willing to put up a fight with the security guards just to stay longer, friends who still laugh as much as they can even if you are crying hard just to make you feel like everything will be alright. Do not underestimate your capacity to regain, your fast recovery after your operation wasn't unexpected at all, you are strong  because you have family and friends that is better than medicine and dextrose, you have your family that is more effective than your fixer. YOU HAVE YOURSELF. Seek for what is in store for you, realize what is behind everything that is happening. Smile for everything that you have learned.

If God needs to break a bone, be it. A jang-jang has it all to crusade.
